Let me briefly inform you about myself and my work. I started working as a taxi driver in 1989 operating at the Sheraton Hotel in Istanbul. Later on the name of the Hotel changed to Ceylan Inter-continental. I attended an English language Course in 1991 for six months and in 1996 I took another course in English Language for six months as well. As of now I can comfortably communicate with tourists and I have opened a Web Site of which I would like to share with you.

With my fellow English speaking Taxi drivers we give 24 hour services using air conditioned Taxis.

By coincidence, in 2001 I got introduced to The Honourable Minister of Tourisim, Mr. Erkan Mumcu and I informed him about my working over the web site to introduce Istanbul and he said that he was very much pleased.When he went to Ankara, the Ministry Headquarters, he sent a fax to the Istanbul District Tourisim Headquarters informing them about me. I was invited for a Tourisim Panel that was held between 15 and 22 April 2001. I attended the invitation and I was one of the attendants who gave the briefing on how to improve Tourism in the latter years.

As a token of prize I was awarded a book that introduces about Istanbul and in addition to that the Minister of Tourism in colaboration with the Mayor of the City of Istanbul I was offered with a full day hotel stay at the Durusu Park Resort Hotel with my wife. Besides this, the Zaman Newspaper pubicised an article with the heading “A taxi Driver Owns a Web Page”. In 2001 we finished six pages of the Web page in Turkish and English and we are continously renewing it. In our Web Site we are putting the istanbul city guide and the name of our site is istanbultaxitour.
